This project was a personal exploration into the complexities of upcycling reclaimed materials. I took a weathered, unused wine barrel and sought to transform its rustic character into a sophisticated statement piece.

The process presented unique challenges, most notably the irregular, curved geometry of the staves and the significant soot residue from the barrel's original charred interior. To ensure a perfect fit, I developed full-scale cardboard templates to map the curves before cutting the Baltic Birch shelving. To manage the heavy residue from the interior, I had to engineer a makeshift ventilation chamber to protect my workspace. The result is a seamless blend of weathered oak and clean, modern geometry.
