Crafted With Heart, Built From Scratch
Hi! I’m Taylor, the maker behind Hinncrafted Creations.
My fascination with woodworking started early. While other kids were playing outside, I was often found watching my family build the home we still live in today. I was captivated by the rhythmic sound of the tools, the scent of fresh sawdust, and the incredible sense of purpose that comes from taking raw, organic material and transforming it into something real and lasting.
That early curiosity quickly turned into a hands-on obsession. By the time I was ten, I was already experimenting with my own projects, starting with a simple birdhouse that I still hold onto today. In those early years, I wasn't just learning how to use a saw or a hammer; I was learning how to see the potential in a piece of wood. I was learning that with enough patience and precision, you could create something that carries your own unique mark.
My first build — a birdhouse at age 10.
That childhood spark has since matured into a dedicated practice. Today, I operate out of the Santa Cruz Mountains, where I focus on a philosophy I call "functional art." To me, that means creating pieces that exist at the intersection of utility and beauty. I don't believe that an object has to be purely decorative to be art, nor does it have to be purely utilitarian to be useful. The most meaningful pieces are the ones that invite you to interact with them; the ones that feel as good in your hands as they look in your space.
Because I approach every project with this same mindset, my work spans a wide range of scales. I find equal satisfaction in crafting a small, personalized gift that holds a special memory, and in designing larger, structural furniture pieces that become the centerpiece of a room. Regardless of the size, the goal remains the same: meticulous attention to detail, a deep respect for the grain of the wood, and a commitment to creating something that is built to endure.
Whether I am working on a bespoke commission or a small custom piece, I treat every project with the same level of care and intention. Thank you for supporting a small maker, for valuing the art of handcrafted work, and for allowing me to create something special for your home.
